Imaging USA

Updated: Jan 23, 2021

One year ago today I was attending my first year of Imaging USA with my husband, Cory Lauersdorf. Imaging USA is a 3+ day convention put on by PPA which stands for Professional Photographers of America. This year, Imaging USA was online-only because of COVID. So still informative, but definitely a different experience. I'm so so glad I got the opportunity to go last year and get the FULL experience in person!

Some of the many things I learned about at Imaging USA were:

~ Cinematography - how to make images that move! (essentially GIFs) I LOVED learning this! This also inspired my passion to get into regular videography more. I was very into creating videos as a kid, but until recently have not done much videography work. I cannot wait to get back into it and film your wedding or event! I've been brushing up on my skills with personal projects in my free time.

~ Posing - Although I have been doing photography a number of years now, posing is something I always welcome more guidance and critiques on. At Imaging there were TONS of opportunities to practice on live models!

~ Light Painting - I LOVE doing nighttime shoots! If you book a wedding with me and I stay until the evening, you can guarantee I will end the night with a unique shot! Imaging showcased a number of different ways to create dramatic images with very little light.

~ Lightroom and Editing - I learned a bit more about how to use Adobe Programs more in depth, as well as some cool techniques to save time!

~ Exploring Your Why - Why do I do this? Simply put, I truly love photography. Imaging is a great place to get back to the "why" of your passion and really commit to your goals as a photographer and as a business owner.

Aside from all the great knowledge I absorbed.. it also felt like a mini vacation because the venue itself was just beautiful! The convention was at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee. While the convention kept us busy a good majority of the time, in between classes we got to soak up the beauty of this resort which seemed like a city within itself!

I am so thankful I was able to attend Imaging USA last year simply for all the knowledge I gained as a photographer and because it renewed my passion and for doing this. No matter what you love in life, you should never stop learning about it and chasing your dreams. I love photography, and I strive to give all my clients the best experience possible. Imaging was a great way to help me further my skills and continue to find ways to go above and beyond for YOU, my clients! Thank you to everyone who has followed me over the years on my photography journey, it means the world to me to have your support!
